U18 Lancashire boys from KGS who won Lancashire 15 vs Yorkshire 5 on Saturday 3rd December.
KGS U14 A vs King’s School Macclesfield U14 A
Won 50-0
KGS U16 vs King’s School Macclesfield U16
Lost – 12-0
KGS U16 battled hard against the King’s School, Macclesfield. The game was close fought throughout and remained scoreless until just before half-time. KGS had opportunities to score but they could not quite finish the opportunities off. KGS deserve credit for trying to play good rugby in extremely poor conditions. At times this cost the team both territory and possession however KGS persisted in attempting to win the game.
KGS U15 vs King’s School Macclesfield U15
Lost – 22-0
The Under 15 squad emerged from this game with credit as they battled from first to last whistle but ultimately could not live with the King`s aggression and speed in the backs. A very early try from King`s would have seen morale drop but Kirkham dusted themselves down and played with passion and enjoyed some long periods of possession. However, King`s matched Kirkham physically and managed to secure several turnovers as Kirkham found players isolated. Two more tries were conceded with one converted which saw Kirkham turn around 17-0 down.
The second half was more of a stalemate as Kirkham tackled superbly well to snuff out the King` s attacks. The slick Kirkham line-out warranted a good supply of ball which ensured Kirkham could attack quickly but the King`s backs were equal defensively. A knock on with five minutes to go brought a try for King`s as they swooped on the loose ball to move it quickly left to score in the corner. This was a pity and a try Kirkham didn`t really deserve to concede after defending heroically.
With minutes to go, Kirkham mounted a sustained assault on the King`s line with Pope, Thomas and Macaulay denied when within metres on the try line, but alas the arguably deserved try remained elusive.
KGS U14 B vs King’s School Macclesfield U14 B
Lost – 36-29
This was a great game of rugby on a cold and wet Saturday morning in Macclesfield. The U14B squad had trained well during the week and were looking forward to a tough game. Both teams defended well in the first few minutes but it was Kings who scored first then Kirkham soon replied with a length of the field move, culminating in great try from Kaman Mathauda. However, at half time, after defending in their own half for a long time, Kirkham were tiring and King’s went over for two more tries from close range.
In the second half, Kirkham were the better team and scored excellent tries excellent tries from Harry Burrows (x2), Harry Booth and Harry Snape. The game was well controlled in the halves by Theo Mihell who made the correct decisions at the right time on many occasions and also converted two tries.

KGS U12 A vs King’s School Macclesfield U12 A

KGS U12 B vs King’s School Macclesfield U12 B

The KGS U12 A and B squads travelled to The King’s School Macclesfield for what was going to be a tough fixture. Both KGS squads struggled with the bigger and more physical opponents as reflected by the score lines. There were pleasing moments in the games, however, both side were able to move the ball well but were unable to capitalize on their possession. Both squads played the games with a positive manner and it was good to see so many boys have a run out and enjoy playing the game of rugby.
