QEGS – 155 for 3 (Smith 1 for 11, Hoad 1 for 22)

KGS – 94 for 7 (Hodgson 49*)

In the final Saturday fixture of the season the Under 14s faced a strong QEGS team on a cloudy morning in East Lancashire. QEGS elected to bat first and Kirkham toiled away against a confident batting side, albeit with a weakened bowling attack this match. Harry Snape bowled well at the start but the boys struggled to take wickets until later in the innings. Seven bowlers got their opportunity in the innings and the opposition managed to score an impressive 155 in their 20 overs. In reply, Kirkham batted sensibly but were always going to struggle to score at the required rate. Charlie Hodgson deserves a special mention, as he batted throughout the innings carrying his bat, scoring an impressive 49 not out. His determination not to give his wicket away was a useful lesson to the rest of the side! Henry Smith continued to impress with some late runs but the boys fell 62 runs short of victory.
