KGS Sports Fixture Reports - February

U14 squad smash through their national quarter final to meet Cheltenham College in the national semi final! 

Date: Tuesday 24th February 2026

Result: 3-2 win

The team worked hard in their away draw against Sedbergh School to keep the ball moving to create space to attack. 

The team went 1-0 up early on with Sedbergh hitting back soon after! With op performances throughout, the score was equal at the full time whistle resulting in a ‘shoot out’ 

The five takers were calm in their approach hitting home with three out of the five taken. Some excellent goal keeping from Cubbins kept Sedbergh out resulting in a 3-2 win and a spot in the England Hockey Tier 1 National Semi Final, away at Cheltenham College. 

Congratulations to all squad members. 

 

The U16 netball squad have booked their spot in the national netball finals at Loughborough University after an impressive victory against Wolfreton School in Hull.

Date: Tuesday 24th February 2026

Result: 45-33 win

The match was tense in the first quarter with both sides converting their chances keeping the score level throughout. In the second quarter KGS stepped up, with some excellent teamwork and movement. At half time KGS were ahead by 4 goals but there was much to play for.

The squad continued to demonstrate real determination and class as they converted further to increase their scoreline.

The final quarter saw KGS increase the score further resulting in a 45-33 victory and a spot in the inaugural national finals to be held at Loughborough University next month.

Congratulations to the whole squad on a remarkable, all-round performance! 

 

U15 Rugby AKS Lytham 7’s Cup Winners

Date: Thursday 26th February 2026

Result: 45-12 win

The U15s have reached the Lancashire Cup final following a 45-12 win over Manchester Grammar. They also claimed silverware at the AKS Lytham 7s, topping their group and defeating Merchant Taylor’s in the semi-final before a convincing final victory against Lancaster RGS.

U14 Rugby

Date: Saturday 28th February 2026

Competing in the Sedbergh 7s, the U14s secured two victories against RGS Newcastle and Rodillian Academy, despite tough losses to St Anselm’s, Stonyhurst, and Sedbergh.
