Kirkham Grammar is celebrating A Level results today, with a raft of pupils securing top grades and achieving their first choice University and Degree Apprenticeship.

In his first year as Head, Mr Tallan Gill is thrilled to report a 20% increase in A*/A grades compared to last year, alongside a 30% rise in A - B grades.

The school also achieved a 100% BTEC pass rate, with all Business Studies pupils securing either a Distinction or a Merit. Subject highlights include 100% of Modern Languages pupils achieving grades A* - C, and 100% of English Literature students achieving grades A* - B.

It was a tremendous year for first choice Universities and Degree Apprenticeships, and some of the school's outstanding results include:

  • Head Boy, Oliver Kollard, and Head Girl, Emma Parker both achieved all A*/A grades. Emma will go to Bath University to study Mathematics and said: “Mrs Binns and everyone at Kirkham Grammar has supported me the entire way. I’m ecstatic with my results and cannot wait to start University. My dream is to come back to Kirkham Grammar School one day to teach Maths.”
  • Triplets Charlotte, Isobel, and Louisa Procter all achieved grades A* - C and secured places at their first choice Universities and Degree Apprenticeships.
  • Charlie Wiltshire, who recently met King Charles through his appointment as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet, achieved 3 As and will study Medicine at Manchester University. He said: “I chose to study Medicine because I’ve always wanted to help people. Science fascinates me, so combined with an environment where I would be interacting with people every day, I knew it was the perfect choice for me.”
  • Taran Mathauda will jet off to the USA next week on a Rugby Scholarship at McKendree University in Illinois, where he will study Psychology.
  • Max Carter achieved 3 As and has secured a 100% scholarship with Nottingham University to study Mechanical Engineering.

  • Harrison Causey, a boarder and First Team rugby player, achieved 3 Bs to secure his first-choice Degree Apprenticeship studying Supply Chain Leadership with GXO. Harrison will be busy as he has also been signed to Preston Grasshoppers RFC.
  • Grace Lin achieved straight As and will go on to study Pharmacy at Manchester University in September.
  • Martha Millar completed her Chemistry A Level in one year and has been accepted into UCLAN to study Veterinary Science.
  • Sporting achievements include Myles Lyster and Ben Firth who are heading to Loughborough University to study alongside furthering their rugby careers. Sebbi Krippner has signed a professional contract with Sale Sharks.

Speaking within the school's historic Old Hall on A Level results day, Head, Mr Tallan Gill, said:

“I am incredibly proud of this year’s cohort. They are determined and ambitious, and these results are a testament to their commitment. The uplift in grades this year is impressive, and every pupil should be immensely proud of what they have achieved. I am thrilled to see so many of them moving on to their first-choice destinations, and I have no doubt that their future is bright. With new academic appointments and exciting changes ahead, I am confident this success will continue.”
