Title: KGJS U11s Rugby - Rossall Invitational Festival

On Wednesday 6 March, 10 of the J4 boys, travelled to Rossall to play in their invitational rugby festival.  The festival has two tiers, one for experienced and one for emerging schools.  Kirkham were in the experienced tier and had 5 other strong teams in their group.

In the first game, against Stockport Grammar, the team started slowly and went behind by one or two tries, but in the second half the team regrouped and put on a strong performance and finished the game one try up.  In the following games against, King's Macclesfield, Cheadle Hulme, Bridgewater and The Grange, the team continued to perform at a high standard, with some powerful running, slick handling and fierce defence.  The Kirkham team outscored each of their opponents and were named team of the festival, taking home the shield as their reward.  Well done to all of the boys who took part in the festival and a special mention to William who was awarded Kirkham's player of the festival.

Title: KGJS U11s Football v The Buchan School

On Thursday 7 March, over lunchtime, the junior school hosted the touring side, Buchan, in a football fixture.  Both teams were evenly balanced and the game was competitive, but played in a fantastic spirit. Buchan took the lead in the first third of the game, after a spell of pressure, but the team managed to bounce back and equalise a little later.  Buchan continued to pile on the pressure throughout the game and despite some fantastic saves and strong defence, they managed to score another two goals, winning the game 3-1.
