Netball v QEGS

On Friday 13 January, the First Year netball team travelled to Blackburn for some friendly netball fixtures. The U12A VII started a little slow and ended up going down early on. With a half time team talk, the team really stepped up in the second half and came fighting back. Some excellent attacking play from KGS' Harriet and Juliette brought the scores level at 3-3, and Imi and Hollie worked well in defence with the game finishing 3-3.

The U12B team had a really quick start with some excellent passing down the court and Aimee opening the scoring. The KGS girls continued to play well with opportunities both in attack and defence but the game finished 1-1.

We look forward to playing QEGS again in a few weeks' time.

Hockey - Saturday 14 January 2023

The U12A squad got off to a great start taking control of the game from the first whistle. Great teamwork and build up play set Guthrie through on goal to convert the first goal of the game. The girls continued to apply pressure, a great run up the right from Dunne set Osborne free to run the back line and slip to McGarry to convert. The third and final goal came from a well worked short corner with a top D shot from Osborne.

The match started well with some quick breaks from the KGS girls putting the Wilmslow girls in the back foot. The girls were great at passing the ball and moving to support play, and as soon as they crossed the line of the D they had a shot at goal. This resulted in a 9 nil win for the girls.

In the U13 game, the girls worked hard to retain possession, playing some excellent hockey. Great runs from Williams and Bailey created chances up front and it wasn't long before the first goal was converted. Further positive play resulted in four more goals leaving the final score at 5-0.

The KGS girls again played extremely well and worked as a team throughout the whole game, being supportive going forward and getting back and defending as a team during the breaks from Wilmslow. The girls moved the ball on quickly retaining possession and shifted it around the back to change the channel of play. The game finished at the full time whistle a 9 nil win with goals from Megan, Jasmine, Evie, Sophia and Sara.

Next week KGS take on Wakefield Girls' School.
