Tennis Lancashire Award

Following a successful season earlier this year, which saw Kirkham Grammar School crowned U15 national tennis champions and U18 Aberdare Cup National Finalists, the School were delighted to win the ‘School of the Year’ award at the 2022 Tennis Lancashire Awards last weekend. An outstanding achievement!

Rugby - U12s v Sedbergh

The U12 squad came out on top at Sedbergh on Wednesday 30 November winning by a margin of three tries to nil. The cold conditions proved difficult for both teams, making handling the ball a challenge, as several passes from both teams went astray early in the game. However, Kirkham did manage some phase play which stretched the Sedbergh defence on occasions, which meant players out wide, such as Harry Lawson. Oliver Cooke and Jacob Thwaite, were given some freedom to run. Charlie Robinson was prominent, once again, in attack which created problems for the home defence. Robinson scored a try in the second half with two from Lawson. The entire KGS 15 boys performed creditably in a game which was superbly handled and refereed by Sedbergh.

Hockey - U13s v Sedbergh

The U13s left it too late to comeback in their National Cup 3rd round match vs Sedbergh Prep. After a slow start, KGS found themselves 1-0 down at half time. Possession was conceded too easily in dangerous areas and only some last ditch defending kept the score down.

After a reshuffle at half time the second half started in the same fashion as KGS conceded a further two goals to find themselves 3-0 down and facing an uphill battle. This triggered a KGS comeback as the defence and midfield started to move the ball quicker and caused Sedbergh problems in wide areas. Two well converted short corners from Hollie Bailey gave KGS hope but they couldn’t find a third goal despite heavy pressure on the Sedbergh defence. A fantastic effort by the whole squad.

Kirkham Grammar Junior, Infant & Pre-School

On Wednesday 30 November, Kirkham Grammar School J4 girls travelled to Sedbergh. Despite the very cold weather, it was fantastic to see all of our J4 girls in action. The girls formed three teams and some high energy games were witnessed. Well done to you all and thank you to the parents and supporters who braved the cold.
