KGS U15s v Bromsgrove School U15s (pictured above)

After a productive pre-season the KGS U15s travelled to Bromsgrove School for their first game of the season. The game was broken down into three 20 minute sessions, 1 x 20 being grab/touch and then 2 x 20 being a full contact game.

Kirkham opted to receive the ball and, from the off, Charlie Bray got some momentum going forward with support players to get the KGS team into the opposition half. Kirkham then found themselves on the back foot where they showed a great deal of potential in defence with some great tackling from Harry Marsh, Freddie Stott and Lewis Simpson. The introduction of lifting in the lineout gave the Kirkham team some clean balls for the backs to play with. Jenson Crompton distributed well to his centres to get the team going forward. The contact game ended in a 0-0 draw but was extremely entertaining.

Many positives were shown on the day and the team should be looking forward to the season ahead.

KGS U13s v The Rodillian Academy

KGS U13s travelled to The Rodillian Academy in Wakefield for their second game of the season.  Following a two hour trip, the boys were eager to begin. Rodillian fielded an immensely powerful team with several hard running forwards. Kirkham scored early, through patient attack, but started to fall off tackles as the first half came to a close. After a tight first half, the home team began running in tries and took the game away from Kirkham.

Mr Brookes was extremely proud with the heart and determination the boys showed in, what was, a very physical encounter.
