U14 Lancashire Hockey Tournament

Yesterday, Kirkham Grammar School hosted the U14 Lancashire Hockey Tournament.

The girls first game of the day was against Stonyhurst College. They started well with some excellent runs made by Poppy and Alice. The midfield worked well together and the ball was played around well. The game ended 0-0 and 1 point on the board. Their second game was against LSA. KGS had all the attacking play and were unlucky not to score on a number of occasions. A great attack down the right hand side with a ball into the D and an excellent finish by Emily made it 1-0. The final game of the day was against AKS. The KGS girls were up for it and started off strong by testing the AKS goal keeper a number of times and had all the attacking play. A quick break away by AKS where they converted a short corner made it 1-0 to AKS. The girls continued to attack and defend well in what was a close game. Natalie, Lucy, Abby, Xara were solid in the defence and kept AKS at bay. Just before half time, AKS made it 2-0. In the second half, KGS defended out of their skin and the game remained 0-2.  A fabulous day, where KGS finished in 2nd place overall. Well done to all of the girls who took part, especially to the Second Year pupils who stepped up an age group!
