Image of KGS Sixth Form Students take on Montane Trail Challenge

Last Saturday, Kirkham Grammar School Sixth Form students, Fen, Harry, Jasper and Amy completed the Epic Events Montane Trail.  Fen and Harry took on the challenge of the 20 mile Ullswater Way route around the whole lake, with Harry completing it in less than 4 ½ hours!  Jasper and Amy ran the 10 mile route together taking in Aira Force and Gowbarrow Fell; certainly no mean feat.  The hot weather meant the students ran in testing conditions, so they very much enjoyed their post-run dip in the lake to cool off.

As a team they have raised £470 for their chosen charities, Cancer Research and Stonewall. If you haven’t yet donated and would like to, please visit their fundraising page via the link below…

This was the first event the students have competed in and all agreed it was a great experience, particularly the fantastic atmosphere at the finish. The KGS tribe even stayed to offer their support and clap home the very last runners. Well done to you all, you should be extremely proud of your achievements.

Epic Events host various run/swim events throughout the year and are always on the lookout for volunteer marshalls which would be great for anyone working towards the volunteering section of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.  Fen has volunteered several times now and really enjoys it and is now in training to swim the length of Ullswater (7 ½ miles) in July.
