Kirkham Grammar School Senior School and Sixth Form pupils are taking part in the 'Walk All Over Cancer' campaign throughout the month of March. The challenge is to walk 10,000 steps a day.
Based on the average person's stride, 10,000 steps is equal to 5 miles (or 8 km) or an hour and 40 minutes walking, depending on your stride length and walking speed.
So by the end of the month you will have completed 150 miles - about the distance from London to Manchester!
How to hit 10,000 steps a day...
Get the challenge done doing what you love in the time you have. Here are some ways you can clock up extra steps:
- Do a fitness class at home or at the gym
- Take the dog for an extra walk
- Meet a friend for a walk
- Walk around the quad at break times and lunch times
How to fundraise...
-Tell all your friends and family that you are walking 10,000 steps a day to raise money for life-saving cancer research and ask them to sponsor you via the KGS 'Just Giving' page...
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kirkham-grammar-school-walk-all-over-cancer
-Record your daily achievement on your smartphone/pedometer or on the attached tracker to see how well you are doing.
-Look at the following website for more ideas:

We would love to see our KGS families getting involved too. Don't forget to share your family photographs with us at m.tickle@kirkhamgrammar.co.uk so we can see how you are getting on and how you are supporting our 'Walk All Over Cancer' fundraising appeal. Maybe you will walk up Pendle Hill or take the dogs for an extra long walk!
Thank you in advance for your support!
