On Wednesday 29 September, Kirkham Grammar School travelled to Rossall School to take part in the annual AJIS Cross Country Championships.
In total, 20 schools took part from throughout the North West of England.
There were 4 races in total: U10 boys, U10 girls, U11 boys and U11 girls, and in each race there were over a 100 athletes.
All members of the KGS team had trained hard during their lunchtime practices and had also taken part in the KGS Inter House Cross Country races the week before.
Everyone ran superbly throughout the afternoon and recorded some excellent results.
The U10 Girls were amazing and came 2nd overall with top 10 positions recorded by Hattie Walker who came 3rd, Ava Godbold 5th and Bea Faith 7th. To come runners-up against much larger schools was outstanding!
The U10 boys were not to be outdone and won the trophy for small-sized schools (an event for schools with 15 or less boys in the year) with Matthew Duckett leading the way in 13th place.
The U11 boys race was extremely competitive, however, they managed to come 3rd overall which was a fantastic achievement. Top 10 positions were achieved by Tumi Milligan (5th) and Billy Margerison (8th), with James Wileman, just outside of the top 10, finishing in 11th place.
The U11 girls just missed out on medals but couldn't not have put in anymore effort, with Imi Osborne leading the way and finishing in 17th place.
It was a very happy bus back to Kirkham with silver and bronze medals and a winners shield.
Thank you to Rossall School for organising a fantastic event.
