A fully qualified and dedicated staff supervises the children and introduces them to a wide range of learning experiences through focused activities and continuous provision of sand, water, paint, malleable materials, construction toys etc. To enrich and extend the learning experience we have visiting practioners who conduct weekly sessions in yoga and music. We also incorporate visitors to the Pre-School and outings in our medium term planning.
At Kirkham we value the importance of the partnership with parents and other family members. Regular Newletters are produced updating parents with events at the Pre-School and are a means of providing information. We hold regular coffee mornings for new parents to meet each other and have enjoyed warm support from families for the Harvest Tableau, Nativity, Easter Parade and recent Grandparents' Tea Party.
Our purpose built Pre-School opened in September 2003 adjoins the Junior school and comprises:
The Playroom, which is resourced and furnished to a very high standard and includes a role play area, carpeted area, shelving and storage allowing easy access for children to choose from a range of quality toys and equipment.
Children's toilet facilities.
The Quiet Room with cushions, books, computers and writing and drawing materials.
A partially covered outdoor play area with soft surface and garden. A range of outdoor toys includes the climbing frame, trikes, scooter, pedal car and sand.
