We have the pleasure of announcing 2 Silver DOE Awards. Jessica Hewitt-Dean and Sam Greensmith have both worked incredibly hard to achieve their awards and both deserve huge congratulations.
Jessica has thoroughly enjoyed working with her local Brownie pack and has gained a great deal in confidence from the responsibilities and challenges she undertook. She has taken an active part in the School’s Debating Society improving her public speaking skills and she has also worked on her fitness and agility by trying a new sport for her – body combat. Her expedition last summer was a huge personal achievement for her as she found the very hot and humid conditions a real challenge.
Sam has worked hard and gained much enjoyment from all aspects of his Award, but his work as a volunteer at Pear Tree School in Kirkham was definitely the most rewarding experience for him.
Sam undertook his expedition in very damp and cold conditions in the North Lakes last Easter and as well as his navigation skills, camping skills and teamwork skills improving, he reckons his problem solving skills also increased greatly.
