KGS Crest Kirkham Grammar School

Wednesday 12 June Friend's Ladies Lunch.

CCF

The unit strength is about 280 cadets, led by a Lieutenant Colonel, and includes ex-Army and RAF personnel among the staff. All pupils are expected to participate in their fourth and fifth years and a large number of sixth formers opt to continue and help to run the Force as NCOs.

Membership of the Contingent helps to promote teamwork, initiative, discipline and leadership and offers our cadets the opportunity to take part in a range of activities such as climbing, flying, gliding, camping, orienteering, canoeing, small bore shooting, mountaineering and adventure training. A DoE award scheme can run in parallel with the cadet training and more recently, the GNVQ BTEC in Public Services, has been successfully introduced.

The School Contingent has its own indoor rifle range, abseiling and climbing wall. Field Days and overnights are held each term and there is an adventurous training camp in Spring; an RAF Camp and an Army Camp in Summer. All cadets are encouraged to attend these camps. Many external courses are also available with the army, RAF and even the navy.
