The Friends of Kirkham Grammar School are proud to raise money to provide the extras for school that contribute towards our children’s educational environment.

We are a committee made up of parents, staff members, and friends who enjoy working together for the benefit of KGS children.

Traditionally, the Friends host four main fundraising events a year. We start with a School Ball in November at a local venue, which, although formal, has a party atmosphere.

Early December sees us welcoming Father Christmas to our School Fair which is held in the MPH at the Senior School. This event is a wonderful start to the festive season, with pupils from 3 to 18 sharing games, refreshments, and shopping opportunities with friends and family.

May time brings our summer event, which varies annually, and may be a garden party, cricket match, fair or multiple events based at both school sites. Whatever the setting, you can be sure that it will be based around the whole family having fun together.

The end of the school year brings our spectacular Summer Ball, which is held in a marquee on the front lawn. Many parents and friends join together for a night of fine dining, live music and dancing in spectacular surroundings.

Throughout the year, we will try and ensure that we maximise fund raising, in an environment that is enjoyable for the whole school community. This may take many forms, from a Junior School disco, or a Bags2School clothing collection, to a celebrity book signing event held at the Senior School, in conjunction with a local book retailer.

Through these efforts we have been able to contribute in the last 5 years: £15,000 towards musical instruments, £30,000 towards IT facilities; flood lighting in both the Senior School quad and Junior School playground, as well as many smaller gifts such as a new Portable PA System and donations towards Sports Tours.

We always need new ideas and welcome new members and helpers, whether the commitment can be on a regular basis, or occasionally at an event. Come along and meet parents and friends whom you might otherwise not know and who may turn into friends of the future.

Overall, please support our events. Every penny raised by you purchasing a Ball ticket, buying a raffle ticket, or donating chocolate, bottles or cakes, is spent on our children. We also have a lot of fun!

I look forward to meeting you.
