1st XI Beat Altrincham GS

KGS 1st XI won 4-1

The 1st XI had a great start to the season against a strong Altrincham side. KGS worked hard going forward making some excellent runs and opening up space for the forwards to collect the ball and attack. The first goal came from Beth Dowbiggin with an excellent strike from top D. Altrincham hit back hard and equalised shortly after. KGS stepped up and began to work solidly together making excellent tackles in defence and distributing the ball wide to create lots of open space. Another three goals were converted by Beth Dowbiggin leaving the final score at 4-1. A great first performance showing huge promise for the season ahead.

KGS Second X1 Vs Altrinham Grammar School U16 A team: lost 5-1

Despite the score line, it was a very positive start to the season for KGS. Initially, the girls struggled with the pace of the game but as the game progressed the team improved. After conceiving numerous goals in the first half, they managed to keep the score line down and only conceived one in the second half. A great start for a team who have come together for the first time.

U15 KGS V Altrincham: drew 1-1.

Scorer: Lizzie Coulston

The U15s had a slow start and were unfortunate to concede a very dubious goal to go 1:0 down. However, they responded superbly and dominated the first half against a very physical opposition. We had wave after wave of attack but couldn't convert our chances.

The second half was even more physical but again Kirkham continued to dominate and were finally rewarded with an equaliser from Lizzie Coulston.

There was a real edge to this game and after losing Beth Dowbiggin with a head injury, the girls had to play with ten men.

The game was extremely heated with sticks being thrown in every time the Kirkham girls got the ball. Therefore, at this stage staff decided to abandon the game before another injury.

The Kirkham girls played with real grit and determination; they remained composed during the heated challenges and showed a real desire and a fantastic attitude throughout the game! A very positive start to the season.

KGS U14 Vs Altringham Grammar School U14s: lost 3-0

A mixed performance for the U14s: the team displayed some very good spells of attacking play, especially from Lexie Fraser, as well as some solid defending at the back. However, the team were unable to convert their chances and were unable to test the skills of the keeper. The team now know what they need to work on next to try and get the win next weekend.

KGS U13: won 7-1

The U13s won their first competitive 11-a-side fixture 7-1, thanks to goals from Hattie Madden, who scored 3 goals, and Bo Madden, who scored 4.

After taking an early lead, KGS were pegged back following an Altrincham short corner. Undeterred, the team picked themselves up and recovered to lead 3-1 at half time - Bo Madden with all 3 first half goals. The KGS girls were showing good team shape as they began to get used to 11-a-side hockey. Eve Gooderham, Anya Baxter, Zara Prosser, Poppy Kearsley and Danielle Merrick all acquitted themselves well in defence.
